Today I would like to talk about the way we eat when we are travelling away from home and out of our usual routine.
So it can be a challenge for some when we get out of our regular routine to stick to any kind of program. So when you are travelling you are definitely out of routine. The best advice I can give is that you will need to plan ahead. It is sometimes hard to stick to your eating window due to activities planned especially if you are doing something where you can’t eat and it will not be possible during your normal window. In that case of course you will adjust your eating time so that you get your nutritional requirements for the day. If you adjust your window you just need to keep in mind that the longer that you fast the better it is for your body. So try to get back into your routine as quickly as you can.
Most of the time if you plan ahead you should be able to stick to your eating window. You just need to know where you will be when you are planning on eating and find something that is suitable or prepare something that you take with you if that is a possibility. It is always good to plan ahead so you have a good idea of what you have access to. This should eliminate the need to grab something that is not really what you want to be eating.
No matter where you are going and what you are doing you can research ahead of time to find out where there are good places to eat or good places to buy groceries. I find that when we are travelling the more we know about where we will be stopping and where there are potential places we can find the types of food that we eat the less stress there is. We can also have the same thing happen at home if our routine is interrupted. If we know that our routine will be disrupted then planning ahead is great, but sometimes we can’t plan ahead so we just need to go with the flow and do the best we can.
If you get out of your pattern just get back in as soon as possible so the disruption will not have a big affect on you.
