A topic that keeps coming up lately is about celebrating your wins and not dwelling on the mistakes. Do you celebrate when you have a win? Let me know in the comments what you do.
Most of us are way too hard on ourselves and take things a little too seriously. I am not saying that we don’t need to have goals and strive to achieve them, I am just saying that we tend to not give ourselves the credit we deserve when we get things done. We tend to be harder on ourselves than we would be on someone else. Take a look at what you see as an achievement that you would celebrate for someone else and then look at if you would see that as an achievement for yourself. For some of the people I work with just getting out of bed is an achievement; for others it is not. But for those people that it is an achievement they usually do not see it as an accomplishment and do not give themselves the credit they deserve.
What things in the day that you do could you be celebrating? If you start celebrating the things that you accomplish then it makes life more fun. You will look forward to completing your tasks because you know that you will receive a reward. Now make sure that your rewards are good for you. We do not want to use food as a reward since this can lead to many bad situations and takes us into a whole other topic about intermittent fasting and watching what you are eating, but I digress. Some ways that you can reward yourself are taking time for a bath, doing a meditation, reading a chapter in a book, doing a short workout, these are just a couple of examples. For some you will not see these as rewards and you will see these things as tasks to be rewarded for. Everyone is different and will celebrate differently and have different things to celebrate. You will need to take a look at what you do and figure out how you should celebrate.
We tend to just celebrate the big things or what we think are the big things, we need to celebrate along the way to that big goal too. You can break down your goals and celebrate along the way. This will help to keep things feeling exciting and fresh. All in all we need to celebrate life and try not to be too hard on ourselves. I always say if you are upset with something you think you did wrong or not the right way ask yourself if you would be disappointed if it was your best friend and what would you say to them. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
