Are you Still Following your Plan

This week I want to ask you, are you still following your plan? Many of us start a new plan in January for the new year, but by the end of January we are back to the same old habits. Is this you? Let me know in the comments.

If you are sticking to your program congratulations and keep up the good work. You got this.

On the other hand if you did try to start a new program and haven’t succeeded in sticking to it you are not alone. Many people are in the same situation as you. This is a normal part of this thing we call life. We are all excited in the beginning and see results and get encouraged then something will come along that throws a monkey wrench into our good intentions and we slide just a bit and before you know it you are going at a breakneck speed down that slippery slope. Why is it so hard for us to do the right thing and eat the right things? Well advertising is to blame for a lot of the thoughts we have about food. We are constantly bombarded with ads about how good something is and the advertisers are good. They know just exactly what to say to make us believe it is our idea to need that certain thing. Another factor is the pace at which life now flows. We pack a lot of different things into our day and so then don’t feel like we have the time to prepare meals or just don’t have the energy to do it.

Now I have been giving excuses for why we don’t stick to our programs but I also want to give you a couple of easy solutions to help you stick to a program. For me intermittent fasting has been a great tool to keep me on track. I only have to prepare one meal a day which I usually have at around noon and a protein shake at about 4 or 5. This of course lightens the meal planning to only one meal a day which is way easier than 3. It is also easier to put more thought and effort into one meal a day. Another tip is to have some kind of exercise that you do daily. It can be as little as a stretching routine or as much as a 5 mile run, whatever you can easily fit into your schedule consistently. When we exercise we always feel like we are being good to ourselves and therefore usually treat ourselves better.

So if you haven’t been sticking to your program, pick yourself up dust yourself off and try again because you are worth it.

Tune in next week for more discussion about lifestyle and food.
